Keeping Up With Fitness Goals While Traveling For Business

When you are multi-passionate, finding the time to fit it all in can be a challenge. Despite how it may seem sometimes, we all only have the same 24 hours in a day – and there is nothing we can do to change that. We have been given the gift of this time, however, and starting to see it as a blessing instead of a curse can help you to find the time for what is important. As I trained for the Ultra Marathon in the midst of one of the busiest work schedules at OMEALS and NEX-XOS, it became even more evident that prioritizing was essential. Take a look at the challenges that I faced during this season of my life, but also the persistence that my team inspired so that we could get it all done: 

My goal happened to be a fitness related goal, so for me, finding time to train and the spaces to do so while traveling was the hardest part of the journey. Here are some tips for keeping up with fitness goals while traveling for business: 

  1. Make exercising an essential part of your daily calendar. This is a non-negotiable. Even if it means waking up much earlier than you would have wanted, it cannot be skipped if you want to achieve your goals. 
  2. Focus on what you are eating. Travel oftentimes comes with dinners out and cocktails in the lobby, however making poor choices when it comes to nutrition can severely impact your training. 
  3. Make sleeping a priority. Staying up late just to mingle without a distinct business purpose can also be sabotaging your time to rest and recover. The meetings and encounters that are essential to your business and mission are important to keep, but frivolous activities may not be the best idea if you are trying to crush fitness goals on your business trip. 

You don’t have to stop training just because you have a busy travel schedule. Being intentional is the best thing that you can do in these circumstances & it is definitely achievable!
